Screenshots:
1. Inline-viewer.png:
It shows upload of a file in a comment as per the normal uploading feature of activeCollab – for now, we have placed a PLAY button just under the file as if you don’t want to download it and view as inline content
– we might come up with a better option as if we get some good ideas else we will keep it this way for now.

2. Inline-viewer-view.png:
This file shows the view of a PDF file with the use of Google Docs Viewer to read the file online as inline content. You will be able to see the first page of CAPM handbook in the screen shot ![]()

3. inline-viewer-view-more-pages.png:
This is another screen shot for further pages in the same file. Using Google Docs Viewer, you will be able to switch to more pages and see details.

Video Preview:
As per requests for a video preview, we have created a quick demo to get better idea of the working for the module. Please see this video and it will give you a better view. We will try to upload an HD version too for better quality.

How does this module work? Are the files sent to Google Docs for storage? We don’t want our sensitive documents to be stored over on Google’s servers.
Or is the Google Reader just invoked on-the-fly to read the document and present it on the screen?
Hello S A,
Thank you for your comment – you can watch a video preview and find more details about this module at below link at our marketplace website:
http://www.vertiace.com/products/inline-file-viewer-module-activecollab
This module understands the security points hence it doesn’t sent out anything to Google Docs for storage, this module creates a temp folder under your activeCollab installation itself during the installation of module and after that just the Google Doc viewer is invoked on-the-fly to read the documents and present it on the screen
There is no storage outside your activeCollab installation and temp folder is just for the purpose to load the files because activeCollab keeps files in encoded format so for the display purpose, we need to decode them in temp folder and display using Google Docs Viewer
Please let us know for any query!
Thank you!
Just read this piece on the Google Blog: http://googledocs.blogspot.com/2011/02/12-new-file-formats-in-google-docs.html
Apparently, the Google Docs viewer has added 12 new file formats.
Since this extension appears to utilize the Google Inline Viewer to do some if its heavy lifting, does that mean that the activeCollab inline viewer receives an automagic upgrade as well? Or is that something that will requie a future upgrade to take advantage of?
Thank you for sharing
– yes, Inline File Viewer Module is going to get upgraded with this support available for Google Doc Viewer for sure. We are currently running the tests to make it sure and if everything goes right, we will be updating the current version and then next upgraded version will be released by this weekend
Please note that it will not be an automatic upgrade since there is a limit on allowed file types so far – for future versions, we might have auto upgrades but for now, such upgrades will be made to Inline File Viewer module for activeCollab via another version release only which is expected to be on this weekend.
Thanks again!!!

Hi,
I likes your viewer.
1. Can it be use in commercial web application?
2. I know youre using google viewer in order to display docs. If we buy the tool can we make the viewer without google logo on the top?
Thx!

Thank you!
Doesn’t seem to work with 2.3.4 – it completely broke the CSS on our site.
Dear David,
We have received your support request regarding this. We will be happy and able to work if you can provide us with your FTP details and URL to check the issue. We have tested this module on different key versions hence we believe that it should be an issue with the CSS of the theme applied. We can help you on this if more details are shared. Thank you!
This does not seem to work on my 2.3.5 install. Don’t see the button to view inline. and When i click on the file i get a crash report
Hello Andrei,
Kindly contact our support team at http://support.viztech.co.in or email us at support@viztech.co.in and we will be available to assist you for this. We have further released new versions of this module to ensure that it works great as always with all the latest versions of activeCollab. Thanks!
It seems to work fine !
Can the viewer be integrated outside the popup we can see in the video ?
Hello Antoine,
The viewer is integrated to work within the pop-up only and with some custom code, it can be taken out as well but it might make little mess as your page will become overcrowded with lots of big information boxes. Alternatively, if you want a bigger popup window, it can be easily done by the settings provided in the module’s files. Kindly refer to installation sheet.
Cheers!
what video files can I upload to work with this? are mp4 ok?
Hello Tony,
– we will try to add further extensions, if possible and suggested to us. Thanks!
This module is able to suport mp4 files as long as you have compatible player in your system
